Prenatal Yoga San Francisco
Whether you are new to yoga or a seasoned yogini, prenatal yoga is a wonderful way to connect with your body, your baby, and other moms-to-be. Our Prenatal Yoga classes are designed with working moms in mind, though all women are welcome.
Yoga is both healthy and safe for you and your baby. You will learn poses and breathing techniques to help support you and your body’s changing needs during your pregnancy. You will also be taught in small classes, surrounded by other expecting moms.
Prenatal yoga can teach you concentration, relaxation, and breathing techniques that will assist in preparing for labor and birth. Attending class regularly can also help relieve some of the discomforts you may experience during your pregnancy, such as heartburn, swelling, back pain, sleeplessness, and anxiety. This focus will help you throughout your pregnancy and during childbirth.
Prenatal Yoga Series with Rebecca Hersh (Runs Feb 14 – March 2, 2018)!
Our 6 week Prenatal Yoga Series is designed with working moms in mind, though all women are welcome. You can sign up for one class or the whole series. You will learn poses and breathing techniques to help support you and your body’s changing needs during your pregnancy.
You will also be taught in a small classes, surrounded by other expecting moms.
Every class will contain poses which encourage strength and movement, stretch and mobility, and rest and relaxation.
Topics covered to include:
- Pranayama and pelvic floor awareness: Learn how to use the breath to reduce stress, increase circulation and prepare for labor.
- Meditation and bodily awareness: Learn how to use meditation and bodily awareness to calm the mind and hear the wisdom of your body.
- Labor positions: Learn many different positions to use during labor to create the most comfort and ease.
- Making connections: Meeting other new moms and creating a social network is a proven way to starve off postpartum depression. You will learn from the wisdom of other women who are on their 2nd or 3 pregnancy or at a different stage of pregnancy.
Returning to yoga after pregnancy?
We offer a variety of classes that will help you ease back into yoga as a new mom. Returning to your practice can not only help you recover from the effects of pregnancy and birth, but can also help you reconnect with yourself in your new role and give you the added energy you need. Join us for Hatha Flow and Restore, Core and Restore, Stretch and Strengthen, as well as Deep Stretch class to reconnect with your body and practice much needed self care after baby arrives.
Please check in with your healthcare provider to determine a safe time to return to your practice. Most healthcare providers will recommend anywhere from 4-10 weeks after birth, so please check with your doctor to determine the best time for your individual body.
