Katy Steadman been teaching yoga since 2001 and practicing since 1996. She teaches in a style that ignites curiosity, and encourages students to explore their whole self. Her method has developed from training in a variety of yoga traditions.

From 2004-2007, Katy lived in Hawaii where she studied with her beloved teachers Nicki Doane and Eddie Modestini. Their teachings reflect the beauty and wisdom of the Krishnamacharya lineage. While living in Hawaii she completed two Maya Yoga teacher trainings, and traveled to India with her yoga family to study with Sri K Pattabhi Jois. Such a blessing!

Since Landing in the Bay Area in 2007, Katy has studied mostly in the traditional Iyengar lineage with Osha Hanfling who is a constant source of inspiration. She has also learned a lot from the simplicity, and focus of Jason Crandell?s classes.

Katy completed the Pre/Post Natal Yoga Teacher Training with Jane Austin in 2010. She delved into the Yoga Philosophy Program at CIIS in 2011 and completed the Restorative Yoga Teacher Training with Judith Lasater in that same year.

Over the past 15 years, Katy has been touched beyond words by her Sanskrit teacher, Bhavani Maki. Katy views the knowledge within the Yoga Sutras as an important key for us all to truly live our practice, and thoroughly enjoys taking the opportunity to weave this wisdom into her classes.

Katy is highly skilled in observing the individual student in a group class. She makes adjustments based in both impeccability of alignment and thoughtfulness. Her teaching style is warm and compassionate, and she has definitely been known to crack a joke or two!

There are no prerequisites for any of Katy’s classes. All classes are for all levels. She primarily teaches hatha yoga with focus on breath, alignment and a sense of well being. Katy facilitates a practice that is both grounded in tradition, and is sustainable for life.

As Katy has matured as a Yoga Teacher she has adapted her skillset for the Corporate Yoga world. She has been teaching at various companies, and organizations in San Francisco since 2009.

Most recently Katy completed the Leadership training with Off the Mat Into the world. OTM is an organization committed to bridging the tools of Yoga with sustainable conscious activism and effective community action on and off the mat. It feels essential to her that Yoga students truly live the practice by opening their awareness to include all beings. She hopes to continue to inspire people to work diligently toward collective, and equitable change.

Where Katy really shines as a Yoga Teacher is in her ability to foster community and connection though her classes. She is honest and authentic in her approach. The vibrant Yoga community that Katy has cultivated over years of teaching is a wide spread, and a very cohesive flock. Her students are continuing to become more deeply connected to themselves, and each other since becoming her “virtual” Yoga students amidst the Coivd reality of 2020.
